What AT&T says it will cost in the store does not match the reality of the bill. Twice now.

Current update: My grandson was quoted $28 but also contends that csr told him that our bill was going down and there would only be a small increase rather than one that is more than $30. He feels that he was intentionally deceived since they showed him only his section of the bill rather than what the increase would be on the entire bill.

My original numbers were incorrect; however, the problem is the same. The price they quoted my grandson was $28 not $15.

Even so, the bill increased by $37 and next month will be $33 extra. A smaller amount to be sure, but a bad business practice still.

My complaint calls the integrity of your business practices into serious question. On TWO occasions now, the ‘estimated’ guess of the store customer service representative did not match the reality of the bill I received. My first complaint (You can check your own records) was meant with a hardy “I’m so sorry” and a one-month credit to my bill. I have been paying what I will call ‘the extra’ ever since. Now, my grandson, a member of our account, upgrades his phone and hears a magical “You’re bill will increase by about $15.” Do you people not know the difference between $15 and $36? I do know that difference. I have to pay it—UNLESS I GO TO A NEW COMPANY AND I SEE NO REASON NOT TO! When something happens once, we can count it as a mistake. When something happens twice, I count it as a moral failure. I do not plan for my complaint to end at your doorstep. I do plan to investigate my options regarding the filing of a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Complaints. You should speak to see exactly what to expect future bills to be, and exactly what charges are causing the increase at stores, they often do a very rough guess that does not include taxes, insurance, etc. Customer service is better, at least if you get someone with experience.

Was on the phone for an hour they hung up didnt call back. Called back again after waiting 10 mins to connect i finally got a hold of someone for a second it got disconnected again. And noooo call back. Im beyond pissed!! Not only does at&t love to take your money on *** data overage frees that cost you $15 for one gig only. They have ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY THE WORST WORST WORST customer service that will not do anything for u. And half of them barely speak english. I hate at&t. I was going to upgrade my phone today and pay $300 to do it but i couldnt because my *** refurbished replacement device wouldnt scan on their computer and the imei number wouldnt register. And nobody could fix this issue. I wasted 3 hours of my life. Im going cancel this *** service and go to Verizon and i dont recommended At&t to anybody your better off with sprint.

Data overages are no fun, but they're something you can be in control of. If you have an android phone, google "android data usage" for guides on how to see what's using your data and even set a limit.

IPhones are trickier, but there are still ways to keep your data usage down.

I don't know exactly what issue they're having with your current phone. To me, it sounds like you're doing a trade to upgrade on the installment plan, but because you did a warranty exchange, the imei doesn't match what's on file. That should still be ok if you get a competent rep (I know that can be asking a lot).

The problem is, all of the phone companies (and, for that matter, just about every corporation) operate the exact same way. Low wage employees with minimal training are put under tremendous pressure to perform, they don't perform well, and they quit or are fired before they even become any good at their jobs.

Often, these people are overseas, and language becomes an additional barrier.

This is the nature of customer service: everyone wants it to be good, but neither companies nor customers are willing to pay what it would take to attract and train employees who would actually be competent. As long as people keep giving them money, companies like AT&T don't really have any incentive to shake this system up.

AT&T IS THE WORSt

I have been with them for several months and ever sense i have gotten service with the company my bill has never been what i was told when i signed up with them it always been 795.00 and they constantly say it from past due balance but what it from is where they changed my plan and changed my plan and didn't apply any type of credits to the account to fix it. So i brought it to the company attention and spoke with Betty Graham from the office of the president and nothing got done she sent it to the manager and when i explained it to her and she was very rude and hung up on me.

HBought a new phone Samsung 6 San Antonio tx area

Change from Tmoble to AT&T and new phone defected! try to change it in Corpus Christi tx area well no you have to take it back where you bought it 150 miles away due to it was retailer store and not a Corporate store? PAID 670.00 FOR a new phone took it to the corpus Christi tx area to check it and the charger doesn't go in to charge and retailer store saleperson check it and stated call the AT&t 611 AND THEY stated take it to the store where you bought it 150 miles away! I have know my new phone was going to be a lemon. and spend 100.00 more for gas due to it wasn't a corporation store it was a retailer why don't they mention that on the commercials!

Not honoring original agreement from the start.

We switched from Xfinity because of promise of set price which included free internet for 1 year. From first statement we were charged for internet.

I called and credit was issued. I was told I WAS correct & should not be charged for internet & it would not be charged again. This became a monthly call where credits were being issued. I was even told at one time that I had 2 years free internet.

As time went on I began to get push back on credits and told they did not have free internet. On April statement call for credit I was told that no credits would be issued & that I had only been issued credits from the beginning to APPEASE me. I paid April bill minus the internet which had been increase by $10. Received May statement, was charged again at increased rate for internet & was charged late fee of $9.

We are being overcharged $29.95 for April & $29.95 + $9.34 for May. I'm done.

I feel above overcharges should be credited from FINAL BILL because AT&T admitted they were in wrong from very beginning verbally and by issuing credits from the very first statement. Customer Rep. telling me during April statement call that all credits were issued to APPEASE me was INSULTING to say the least.

Today, June 10, 2015 we are switching BACK to Xfinity.

No more monthly calls to get what was promised from beginning. Don't even mind early cancellation fee just to be free of dealing with AT&T billing and customer service.

Billed/sent to collection for phone no longer connected

Due to a serious illness last year, I gave my son Power of Attorney, and he paid balance due to AT&T through that date. However, we kept getting billed for non-existent telephone (it was disconnected). It was also sent to a collection agency. Son contacted Attorney General of my state with all the documentation. The AG settled the matter very fast. Now I just have to deal with the issue of my credit reports showing still the collection "bill." Guess I'll send the final letter to the credit report bureaus, and copy the AG on the fact that the collection debt shows "closed" but should not exist at all! Long term AT&T customer. Never again. Get it all in writing and promptly contact your AG.

Piece of warning dont get ATT service. For the past two years, they never charged me for the bill they promised. The highest bill i received was 400/month for two phone. It is really crazy price. I had no international call no over-usage of data or message. its a plain "rip-off" company. Customer service is lousy. They never take any effective action to solve my billing issue. I often had to reach them four or five times to get my problem solve. i am glad I switch to T-mobile. The last bill i received from att was around 500 dollars again.

Shady Billing Practice - Uncooperative Employees

I opened a residential internet account with AT&T in the fall of 2010. I was told at the time I would be charged $14.95 per month for service. At the time they told me to pay the amount on the bills, which were $30 and it would take a "few months for the billing to catch up" and they would credit my account the difference. After six month my accounts still did not show that rate and numerous calls to customer service did not resolve the issue. I attempted to contact the corporate office and was contacted back by an employee named Rhonda nearly a year later. She apologized for the situation and zeroed out my account balance and said that she would give me six months free service. I was still billed for service at the increased rate, despite the promise of FREE. I called again and again was forced to follow up with corporate where I was assured the situation would be resolved. Again it was not and I ended up canceling the service. In 2012 I again sent letters and spoke with a woman named Doris, who again, promised to resolve the issue. It has recently come to my attention that the issue was never resolved and I allegedly own money for "non-payment". I contacted corporate again, outlining again, all previous communication and explaining I couldn't owe for "non-payment" when I wasn't supposed to be charged for the service in the first place. Their response was they had no record of an employee named Rhonda or that any promises had ever been made about credits to my account and free service. I requested account information to verify and was told that they would not release any information regarding the account to me without a subpoena. I have made numerous attempts to rectify this situation and they have failed to work with me. They will not give me any response other than the amount the allege is owed and they do not have any knowledge of the employees I have previously spoke with.

Take note Californians' AT&T is a BLACK OPS COMPANY and is starting to show what it really is in how hostile and vile it is to its customers or "victims" I should say.

U-verse internet service

Internet stopped working on 06/05/15 at around 6A.M. contacted costumer service, they tried to reset system remotely, did not work. Scheduled an appointment for 06/06/15 between 4 & 8pm. No show, no call. Contacted ATT again spoke to supervisor Raymond emp # RX791C stated they were busy will reschedule for 06/06/15 between 4 & 8pm, no show no call. Contacted ATT once again they say they are busy will have to re-reschedule for 06/08/15 between 8:30-12:00. wasted 8 hours for no one to show up or call stating that they were unable to fulfill their commitment. *** poor customer service, looking for alternative at this time.

No voice contact, wants $69 for service before continuing

Tried to contact for service and kept getting run around without any voice contact. Could not tell if there was any way to make a personal voice contact or how to really explain how to get anyone to check what the problem might be especially without committing to a service charge per hour of a ridiculously high fee and without even knowing what the the problem is that we have with our telephone line. All we have so far is that there may be a service response in 48 hours. We think that 48 hours is way too long to go without telephone service especially when we have the need for emergency and urgent contact situations that may arise from personal and my professional patient needs.

I dealt with a similair situation a couple of years ago. I cancelled my service and paid all fees.

8 months later I just so happened to check my credit report and they had turned me over to collections. After spending 3 hours on the phone and speaking with about 5 different people it was finally resolved, 3 weeks later! For some *** reason I came back to them for Uverse internet. What a mistake!

They have not shown up for appointments and then they want to schedule appointments when they know we wont be there. I have not had correct service for a week now and I have spent over 25 hours either on the phone or chat support. I have been lied to 3 times this week alone! I am going to make them do what they promised.

I have records and an attorney. I will not stop. What they are doing is fraud and customer service is virtually none existent.

The company is the experience I have ever had. Nobody seem to care.

I never thought that AT&T is a bunch of crooks! They want me to pay for the whole month bill after i had my service disconnected & only used 5 days of service! They cant even pro rate my bill coz its part of their policy.... im very upset about this considering ive been with them since 2009. Its a good decision that i stop their service if thats how they treat their customers!

We have AT&T U-Verse and one week ago lost service (on a Sunday night). We called and they did a line test and said we needed a new box, so shipped one. It arrived Wednesday. After hooking it up and doing all the troubleshooting...another call was made and the tech then said..."oh your line is bad coming into your home...its not the box". And they needed to get a tech out on Thursday, so set up a timeslot. It was origianlly 8am-8pm...and i said "oh no", sonit was changed to 8am-noon. At 1, no one had arrived, so another call was placed and they said "i see our service rep canceled it last night 2 minutes after she set it up". He was not sure how that happened, but assured me we were now priority and we would have seevice by 8pm on Thursday or possibly Friday morning by noon. Well...surprise, as of noon, no service, so another call and more BS and another empty promise. This has gone on a few times since and it is one week later, 8pm the following Sunday, and we have no service still with one empty promise "or lie" after another. I highly urge anyone thinking of U-Verse to NOT do it! We have had they typical issues with other carriers, but nothing like this. This is completely unacceptable and if we were not in a contract or had another good option available, I would cancel in a heartbeat. AT&T needs to do something ASAP to remedy this so we can work and relax on a network that we rely on!
