AT&T forcing high priced Internet into costumers | ATT review from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Update by user Feb 08, 2013

Sorry for the typo in the title Customers. I was writing angry and fast and didn't proof read it first. ;)

Original review posted by user Feb 08, 2013

I received a notice recently from AT&T regarding my DSL service. The notice claims my service is changing to U-Verse and that I need to call their transitioning number to receive new equipment or I will lose my Internet connection. The notice claims that the upgrade will be free and my price will be cheap but after digging deeper into it, I realized the cheap price will only last for one year and after that, the cost of my service will pretty much double. I can barely afford my current service (the price of which has risen gradually over the years) due to a fixed income/financial problems. At this point, I can only afford to keep my service for that one year and then I will be forced to drop it entirely and find another provider. In fact, I believe I'm going to shop around after posting this complaint. I won't be bullied into service I don't want, and couldn't afford even if I wanted it. If you have AT&T DSL, be prepared because they are phasing out DSL entirely and you will eventually be forced into this position as well. Just seems to me that this forced upgrade is only going to cause AT&T to lose more customers. Hopefully I'll find another provider soon. Perhaps I'll drop my phone service too, since the price of my service has risen so much over the years. It's been a long time coming anyway. Very unhappy with AT&T right now.

Incorrect bills | ATT review from Fort Worth, Texas

AT&T removed my unlimited text and sent me an outrageous bill. I took me several months to get it fixed. I had to call every month for several months and each month I was told it was fixed. I went in to add a service and they removed my unlimited text. For the past 2 years off and on I have been struggling with AT&T on different issues. The customer service that once was there has completely gone out the window. Its now about how they can benefit financial from there customers. When I called customer service they would leave me on hold for up to 20 minutes at a time while they located a manager. I felt like they were doing this on purpose hopping I would get tired of waiting and hang up

Cheating out of contract | ATT review from Belle Meade, Tennessee

Recently received txt from AT&T saying I used up 100% of my data. I have unlimited date. Always have. Turns out a few months ago when I came in to add 5G to my plan to be able to use my iPad, they cut me out of the unlimited plan that I've had for a very long time. The 10$ extra a month turned into 20$ and I now have to pay extra 10$ per 1gb that I use over the limit that I was given.. I asked them to put me back on my other plan n AT&T said they can't do anything about it...the 2 yr plan that I was on has ran out n believe me, I'm going to any other company except AT&T.

Problems with at t uverse | ATT review from West Palm Beach, Florida

I hope to hear from others having trouble with at t uverse They can add extra bills any time, and send them to a collection agency if they are not paid. one bill is 73.00 another is 93.00 internet is poor, no phone perks were given. land line was taken away. it is impossible to speak to a superviser. Ihave spent 4 hours at one time trying to find out what the bill was for. Since no one knows the answer, I was shuffled from one person to the next, with lots of holding time in between. the last person hung up,

Unable to disc U-Verse for a deceased person. | ATT review from Georgetown, Texas

My father passed away late 2012. I called ATT U-Verse 3X and spoke with 4 people to explain that the account needed to be disconnected and U-Verse equipment returned to them. The first three people couldn't get passed the fact that I didn't know my fathers password or secret answer to the question of "favorite childhood hero". None of which should have mattered at the time they heard the word "deceased". The first two agents also asked me for payment of the final balance. After escalating to a supervisor, 4 phone calls, and explaining that I had all vital records in my hands, including DL,SSN, and death certificate, I was still asked to return equipment to UPS store, and walk inside Corp store and show them the death cert in order to have service fully disconnected. I have notified the ATT Exec Leadership Team.

Do not trust AT&T | ATT review from Indianapolis, Indiana

I was going to ditch my cable provider togo with Direct TV, and AT&T would have been my new HSI provider. Unfortunately, the Direct TV installer was unable to install in my home withour drilling through exteral walls. After cancelling with both Direct TV and AT&T, I later received a bill for my firs month of AT&T. Only problem, I never received service, or any way modem o use if I hadn't still been with my cable provider. When I clled to cancel, they agreed to credit all charges. Great. Until now, 6 months later and I receive notices from a collections agency. Several calls to AT&T have gone the same way. They need to transfer me, and I get disconnected with no call back. I would not trust a thing they tell you.

Upgrade Ohhhh Reallyyyyy | ATT review from Los Angeles, California

I have been a so called customer for a few years and decided to upgrade my 2 IPhone 4's 32G's to a IPhone 5 32G's. So I go in the store and ask the rep how much to upgrade. He tells me 300.00 each with a new contract. So I said that that's the same deal ANYBODY gets that walks into the store and he says yes. So I ask where's my perk for being a "valued customer" and how can you call that a UPGRADE. So he informs me that that's the deal for anybody. So I ask myself hmmmm they talk about this great UPGRADE but WHY. Well I walked across the street to Sprint and got both phones and activated for 375.00 So I believe AT&T don't have a clue what "valued customer" is all about.... Xmetalrocker

Well don't YOU feel entitled? ATT gives the same upgrade pricing to everyone who's eligible for an upgrade to make it fair for everyone who is a customer with an upgrade available.

If you don't like the discount, you can quit crying and buy the iPhone outright for $750.

Oh, what's that?

You don't want to? Oh well isn't that just a shame.

AT&T U-verse | ATT review from Mcpherson, Kansas

One of many who believes this company should be shut down. 7 days ago contacted AT&T about canceling home phone because all kids have cell phones. Wanted to keep internet service though. They said no problem we would switch to u verse. We asked about download speed and comparability. We were told would be exact same if not better. Next day very nice gentleman came to install. Said the modem they sent was only 2 mbps download. I said forget it. So he called u verse right then and he put it in speaker. Person at u verse said we could only get tge 2 rate. So I said I wanted to cancel. She put me on hold then came back and said good news I could get The 3 download speed. They just needed to update map. If i called monday they would do that. Called monday like told. Person said i could not get 2 or 3 mbps only .75 speed. I went berserk. Got switched to a "retention specialist". I asked why they lied. He said they didnt lie that one day i would be able to get that speed in my area. Are you flippin kidding me. Of course i cancelled. This company is so so bad. Wish i would have read about them ahead of time. I am now in a personal crusade to keep as many people as I can away from AT&T and u-verse. When will companies lime this finally treat people in the proper manner. In this economy you would think they would do all they can to get and keep customers. They are the exact company that most people say they are. Boycott this company, there are enough choices out there. I have what i need now from another company for almost same price but much better service.

ATT Commercial

I can't believe that you hired a advertising company that came up with such *** commercials... so *** that I change the channel on my "Novella" (which I assume is what the girls are calling their TV? ...this is America and we call them televisions) every time your *** commercial runs my channel is changed. To have children saying I can't hear the TV over my "PAPA" snoring or..."in my day" ..in her day?...how old is she 13? and how about the boy with the corn dog... OMG... is simply *** and I refuse to watch your commercials...the writers should be fired.

okay. there are hundreds of annoying commercials every day.

I only have a problem with one. The U verse commercial with the constant doorbell ringing. Every single time it makes my dog believe someone is at my door.

She goes nuts.I will be the first one to say she might not be the brightest bulb in the box however, it's enough to make a saint swear. I will forever feel adverse to uversesimply because of how annoying that commercial is.

By the way....

I'm from America....ONLY 8) !!!! Since when did I have to look words up in my dictionary so I can "understand" what a COMMERCIAL is trying to say...it is a COMMERCIAL :grin ...

"A Novella" :roll .... give me a break. Now I have a " :upset person :upset " , calling me names because I didn't know what an Italian or European word was :p ?....

I am an American, born in America. Apparently, Anonymous isn't :p :grin :p ....

The fact that they're young kids and talking like they're old people is the point of the commercials you ***. And no novellas aren't tv's, they're soap operas you ***

@Anonymous

I understand the poorly written commercial... they are mimicking adults but, it is still a *** commercial...you must have been one of the people I hope gets fired for writing such GARBAGE :p !!!...or maybe you approved it :x ...or maybe your child in the commercial....how embarrassing for you :cry

By the way...not to correct your "BRILLIANCE" but, Novellas are short stories (not soap operas) ...DERIVED FROM ITALY!!! Read the following ...from the dictionary

A novella is a written, fictional, prose narrative normally longer than a short story but shorter than a novel.

The English word "novella" derives from the Italian word "novella", feminine of "novello", which means "new".[1] The novella is a common literary genre in several European languages.

Maybe you were trying to say a Telenovela...is a soap opera...but, a NOVELLA...per the dictionary is something you read and it is from ITALY.....NOT AMERICA. :grin

Bushwhacked Again by the ATT THugs

After several decades, I am again dealing with ATT's mob-type tactics of extorting money from law-abiding citizens. Remember, this is a company that once operated as a legally sanctioned monopoly; so, I'm not surprised. I only ordered service through ATT last year -- yes you guessed it -- because they've monopolized the Southeast. I ordered ATT landline and Internet service in the early summer of 2012. I was accepted into an out-of-town college for summer school, so I put the service on hold. When I returned from school in August, I requested that the Internet service be restored. It was never was. A few months later, I received a bill from ATT for $233. I called ATT and you young man told me that the billing error was embarrassing and that he would take care of the problem. Today, Feb. 5, 2013, I received another notice from a collection agency stating that I owe $279.00. I again called ATT. I swear I must have been talking to the same guy I spoke to months ago. He seemed genuinely embarrassed and said, "We need to fix this." This time, though, he connected me to accounts receivable. The woman didn't seem very bright. She said, "You owe ATT $233." I told her I was referred to her because I didn't owe that amount. She said she would have to connect me with customer service. I informed her that I had just spoken to someone in customer service. She put me on hold anyway -- terminally. She basically hung up on me. I don't have the patience to do this goat-rope and donkey dance with ATT again. It is obvious that the company is run by thugs who care nothing about the customers who are lining their pockets with gold. I'm a journalist, so I going to start a complaint letter-writing campaign. I am not only going to write the BBB, but also the attorney general, the FCC, my congressman, and anyone else who will listen. Also, because I'm starting to feel harassed, I'm turning this over to my lawyer. I don't need this type of stress right now.
