ATT.COM Accessories not guaranteed

I bought my wife a LG headset through ATT.COM. The headset failed within the first 30 days of use. The ear piece came apart and the wires were exposed. My wife called ATT customer service to get a replacement. The operator told her to repackage it in the shipping box, use the return address sticker, and ship it to them. She did so. ATT then claimed they had no record of receiving the shipment. On the third call, they claimed we never called before. On the fourth call (each one of these calls was one week apart), they claimed that because we were calling beyond the 30 day warranty, they could not help us. GET A LOAD OF THIS >>>> AT&T has call centers in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, CANADA... The operators are NOT responsible for following either United States of America federal law or the State law of the customers! I spoke with an AT&T supervisor who stated that I needed to give the last four digits of my social security number to her prior to her assisting me. OUTRAGEOUS! Then, this supervisor informs me that AT&T has no record of the return and only shows my objections on the FIFTH phone call. There is no replacement being sent because AT&T does not give a 30 day guaranty on "accessories", she says. I reminded her that I spoke with AT&T via phone prior to purchase and reviewed the AT&T.com online warranty. My wife also called four other times on this transaction to get the replacement headset. To this end, the supervisor stated that AT&T refunds the original price only through the original route of purchase and then you have to buy a new one. ABSURD! This is insane. Is this how these lying cell phone companies get one million phones sold? They don't report the refunds and returns because the warranty is no good????

Are you serious? Why WOULDN'T they ask for the last four of the social?

Do you realize you're on a telephone? What other way are they going to verify your identity? Most customer service jobs ARE outsourced to other countries.

They probably told you that they didn't see any notes because the notes made you request look childish and trivial.

Why should a service company care at all about your accessories? Get your accessories from third parties, otherwise you're begging to be ripped off.

The stores do not carry the wired headset for the LG cell phone. More importantly, AFTER the wired headset was returned to ATT, the ATT.COM store FAILED to return the money we spent on the original headset!

You have a one year warranty on all accessories purchased from AT&T. Try going into a store instead of dealing with the call centers.

Bring your invoice if you have it. If not, they should still be able to look it up.

Ripped off by ATT & Oan Services!!

My ATT&T bill for January 2010 contains quite a surprise! An unauthorized charge from OAN Servies in the amount of $49.99 plus tax. I called these people immediately and spoke to a representative who identified himself as "employee #1180405". He stated that these charges would be removed within "1-2 billing cycles". To me that transalates into 30-60 days! Much too long for a scam to remain in force. What I don't understand is why AT&T hasn't done anything about these people. My next step if this isn't taken care of is to go directly to the Public Utilities Corp. and see what can be done!

I have experienced the same issue and was told my wife had ordered the services except she has been in the Philippines for the last few months and doesn't speak good English so I doubt very much that was the case.

ATT in Aliso Viejo, California - AT&T falty ground wireing and horrible service.

Ok, so I live in a Townhome in Tustin California that has about 100 units. 5 years ago when I bought my home, I had my basic home phone set up with At&t. Not by choise but they own the copper wire servicing my area. I refused how ever to get DSL though them. I went with a very dependible 3rd party DSL company after at&t provided dail tone. The firt heavy rain that fell, our phone line first got staticy, then just died. Soon after my DSL lost link. When I look at the hand set on my phone it says "line in use" but no one is on the phone. I called AT&T from my mobile phone, and they run a test on my line and tell me it's an issue with the wireing in my home. I told them I don't think so, but told them to send a tech out to check it out, and if they found the problem was in my house, I would gladly pay them to fix it. 2 days later, the ground is dry, the tech comes out and fiddles with the wires in the box outside, and i'm back up and running. He told me my phone was "Sharing" a pair with the neighbors, and that he fixed the problem. This went on for 5 years. EVERY time we got a heavey rain, the phone went out. Recently we had a big storm in So Cal, and just like clock work the phone went out, along with my DSL. Monday, the day the phone went out, I call them.. They tell me they cant get a tech to my house till Wensday. Pissed off I said ok, I'll go in to work a little late and stay home and wait for the guy to show up. He said he would be at my house between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. he shows up at 1:00 PM, and calls my Cell phone from his truck parked outside my gate, and says "the trouble is in your house, I have dial tone at the box" I tell him, dont go anywere I'm coming out. So I explain to him, if it's in my house, how come it only happneds when it rains? He had no clue. After poking around, he figures out that there is a bad splice in an under ground cable, and when it gets wet, it shorts out. He ran a temporarey wire accross my gate to get use up, and said he was going to call the dig guys to dig up the cable and fix it. I was pissed but happy to have phone and internet back. 2 days later.. Phones out again I call the tech on his cell phone and asked him what the deal was. He said he spoke to another tech that was aware of the issue and that they have a fix for it and he would call me back to keep me posted. That was Saturday. He never called me back so i call at&t again, and give the the business. The guy on the phone says, sorry for all this, i will expidite your call, a tech will contact you in a couple of hours. Well, the tech never called me. Instead the next morning, Sunday, I get a call from an automated system telling me my service call was moved up to have a tech come out on Monday, by 8:00 PM! 8:00PM?? Really?? After missing a day of work, and being without service for 5 days, I have to wait all day for this guy to get here to fix a problem that is all AT&T's? My teen ager cant do his homework, my wife cant pay bills, and I missed a full day of work. Today is monday. It's 1:30 PM and no word from AT&T or there tech.

ATT in Chicago, Illinois - AT&T Blocking our website

Complaint against AT&T: I work for a small, non-profit TV Production company. We have a few clients, and because of that we have an FTP onto which we load the large video files we produce. It is accessible via a web browser. Recently we discovered that we couldn't access either of the FTP sites we had set up. I checked "http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/" and it said that the site was indeed up and operational. I called my web designer. It worked for him. His ISP isn't AT&T. Ours is. AT&T's tier 1 support was completely baffled. They couldn't access it either. After about 45 minutes with that guy, he transferred me to tier 2 support. Another 45 minutes down the drain and after two "network groups" got involved, it was determined that yes, AT&T had blocked both of those sites on their network. They wouldn't tell me why or how I could fix the problem. All they told me was that that information was confidential, and that somehow these sites had violated some rules that they have for what people can browse on their network. They said that they sent an email to "the person who registered the site with directions on how to get the site unblocked." They wouldn't tell me who that person was. Confidential, again. I contacted my web designer, who registered the site. He's received no email. I called our hosting company, and am now in the process of working with THEIR second level of support which is considerably worse than AT&T's (Justhost.com! Thanks!) The people at AT&T were all very nice and everything, but they apparently CAUSED a problem for our company that is literally costing us money on a daily basis, and now they're telling me that not only do I have to solve it myself, but they won't tell me how to do it. I'm on a wild goose chase trying to fix a problem that AT&T created. Can they even do this, legally? Block a site on a network? We have NOTHING illegal on there. I have all the technical information if you need it (a screen capture of a failed trace route, proving that I cannot access the website, etc.) Thanks for your time and help.

ATT in Washington, District Of Columbia - IPhone hidden International Charges

While in Germany, I got calls from people, but did not pick them up as I did not want to pay to talk to them. I even got calls from 1-800 solicitors. Come to find out that every call is charged an incredible $2... even for just going to voicemail!!! I got charged for calls I didn't even pick up the phone for!!! This is crazy! You could make your enemy broke by just sending him to a foreign country and calling him 1,000 times! Get rid of AT&T!! Get rid of your iPhone! It's not worth it, they just want to suck money out of you. Don't be a sucker!!!

Additionally, when your phone rings, it has to be found by a tower. In Europe, most phones are unlimited prepaid. So their towers report only 1 minute at a time.

Your phone rings, there's 1 minute.

Buy a prepaid phone when you travel. And just throw it away. Or, unlock your iPhone and use another carrier's sim card.

Speak with accents so you do not know what they are saying and attempt to scam you out of $49.95/month with some BS internet listing. Stay FAR Away from totaltelmedia.com and ban 877-250-5436 on your phone.

ATT in Miami, Florida - AT&T Store charged me $293.76 for buy 1 get 1 free

AT&T store in Pembroke Pines Florida charge me $293.76 for a buy one get one free. I got the (2)Samsung A237 (cheapest phone in store) I went to the store and gave them a chance to correct the bill. They said I waited too long...I have not gotten the $100 rebate card yet. Why can't we as customers charge them $175.00 when AT&T breaks their contract with us? Since Nov. 14 2009 I have been charge 293.76 and have been charge another $275.00 in billing charges. It is now Jan.9, 2010. In less than 60 days I have a had over $568.00 in charges.

ATT in Los Angeles, California - AT&T

Today I spent 2 hours trying to get someone to help me at AT&T for slow connectivity on my DSL. Been having the problem for a couple weeks. The FIRST time I called I waited 20 minutes to only get someone in the Phillipines. They asked me to unplug my modem and reboot, which I did and I'd DONE 3 times before. Then, they tell me they're gonna check my line and when they do they say I've been "downgraded". I say "WHA" and they say they need to connect me to Customer Service to speak with them about what is available to me in the way of "Power". Oh, NOW I get the U.S.! And, what appears to be...SALES. Remember...I called for trouble with my DSL LINE and now I get this woman who proceeds to tell me that "I NO LONGER have the same power." "AND, the ONLY way to help me is if I get the U-VERSE!" Can you believe this!? I CAN'T! So, I figure they got some thing going on in the Philippines to tell people this BS so they can sell you the U-VERSE in the U.S. and everyone gets a cut of the commission. Now I get REALLY irrate and I ask her why it's been downgraded. She can't tell me. I look at my bill and I notice I'm paying for DSL EXTREME and at no time did anyone tell me my area has been "downgraded." I live in the heart of Los Angeles NOT on an island. She tells me that "if I'm NOT within a certain distance from their main office than I can no longer get better strength." I ask her where they are located and she says, "Oh, I can't tell you that". Now I'm LIVID and have been on the phone for almost an hour between this insane conversation and all the waiting on the line to get someone to address my original problem. I ask her to give me her supervisor. I WAIT and then Christine, the supervisor, gets on the phone and continues to tell me the same thing about the power of my DSL and that "I need the U-VERSE!" I'm now REALLY angry and I tell her that I've been on the phone for an hour and I still don't have ANY solutions AND I'm NOT taking the U-VERSE. This is what we call in the real estate business as "FISHING" and it's ILLEGAL!! So, again, I'm not getting my direct questions answered and so SHE JUST DISCONNECTS from me...AFTER AN HOUR!! And NO help. I NOW feel like I'm gonna BURST! I REFUSE to give up. SO, I call back to the "Phone Service" not the Internet service. WAIT again. I get some guy who gives me a DIFFERENT service number, apparently in the U.S., and I WAIT for another 20 minutes and, who do I get? INDIA!!! Okay, now this is becoming a bad movie and I don't know if I should laugh or cry. I proceed to tell him my story about the call to the Philippines and the "U.S. U-VERSE GALS". You know, in India they are trained to be Oh So Polite and he apologizes to me up and down but just wants to run me around again. FINALLY, he says he'll connect me to Technical Support in the U.S. He waits on the line with me but the wait is interminable. I've been on the phone THIS time for 45 minutes going on an hour. THEN, he tells me that it sounds like I have "BROADBAND" issues and says he'll change course and turn me on to the "line department" which doesn't have as big of a wait. I say "YES" that's who I need! Within 5 minutes I get this American guy on the phone who tests my line and tells me it's got a WEAK signal and makes an appointment with me to send out a repair man. HALLELUJAH!!!! It ONLY took more than 2 HOURS to get to the department I should have had FROM the beginning when I got the Philippines. Someone needs to look into this SALES PITCH that people are getting when they call in to the service department with problems with their Broadband or other Internet issues. This is APPAULING!! In the past, I've been CALLED, EMAILED, SNAIL MAILED and even Twice had someone IN PERSON knock on my door to sell me the U-VERSE. AT&T wants out of the DSL business and it looks like they will stop at nothing to get customers onto Fiber Optics! This economy has big companies running amok, it appears. Taking advantage of people all over the place. AT&T is HUGE but if they continue this they may have a class action suit on their hands. To NOT help people with an issue and redirect them to buy one of their products to FIX the problem is AGAINST THE LAW!!! This is DESPICABLE!! Who do I tell about this? It appears that there is NO complaint dept. at AT&T, right? So do I go to the FCC? Is ANYONE reading this? stellagirl1@sbcglobal.net

ATT in Kalamazoo, Michigan - They were dishonest and rude

a week before christmas my daughter, her boyfriend and myself went in because i had seen the add about the cookie being 9.99. It was time to renew our contract and so I started to talk to one girl, because most every other person in our st. Joseph michigan office are really rude and not helpful. So I asked her if I could get the 9.99 cookie if I re did my contract and she said yes, so my daughter who is on my plan wanted the pink one. She said she could get it and they didnt have one and wouldnt contact the Benton Harbor store who had six. So she said dont worry we will get one in and call you when its in. I also added my grandson to my plan and bought a 19.99 phone for him. As soon as I signed the contract they started re-nigging on there deal to give me the cookie. Another sales rep interupted my conversation at that point with the sales person I was working with and interjected that I couldnt get the phone for that... why after I signed the contract did this whole situation change. We never got the phone and the people were very rude!! I would think that any supervisor etc would want to know that there whole staff is really dishonest and rude. They have been less than honest and very rude and now I have a contract that I hope can be changed when ATT takes over or will be have more of the same here.

mabe thay will make it right to keep you.some employees dont know how to treat people. thay forget where there income comes from.if that dosn't work there are other co.'s that would be glad to take over that contract.

ATT in Mesquite, Texas - AT&T Refused to Help Me With My Defective Phone

About 2 years ago, I ordered a Sony Ericson w 580i cellphone. The phone was nothing but problems from the first day that I got it. The first time I spoke on it, the phone dropped the call on my end. The person I was speaking to could still hear me, but I couldn't hear them. I didn't think much of it, so I wasn't concerned. However, I was concerned about the fact that the music I downloaded on to the phone's memory card was not always saved on the phone. Even after I had played the music on the phone, I would go back and the music wouldn't be there. I called the manufacturer, Sony, and they said that I must have received a defective phone. I sent it back to AT&T and they sent me a replacement. Well, the problem with the dropped calls persisted. I would be on the phone and about 10 or 15 minutes into the conversation, the phone would drop the call on my end. I ended up having to send back 2 other Sony Ericsson w580i phones. Well, the last of the phones began to have problems and I called customer service, and when they tried to connect me with tech support, it would reroute my calls to the main customer service number. Each time I called that happened. Finally, one of the customer service people had to use his own number and to get to tech support. Then, he told the person on the other end that it was my phone that really needed help. He actually had to trick the company into assisting me because they had set up the system to prevent me from reaching tech support!! I'm a paying customer!!! If your phones suck, do not sweep the problem under the rug and try to railroad the customer. It seems like they were trying to prevent me from returning the phone, so that the return time period would run out. The ONLY redeeming quality that AT&T has is their rollover minutes. If not, I would definitely pick another company. I may just do that anyway. AT&T definitely has shady business practices and people are aware of it. In a Consumer Reports survey, AT&T ranked last in customer satisfaction. I wonder why? By the way, I don't remember having any problems when it was Cingular.
