ATT - AT&T disconnected our landline
We signed up for U-verse in late July 2008. AT&T messed up the order, and we were only able to have cable and internet installed on 8/1/08.
Due to AT&T's horrible customer service and incompetence, we could not get telephone installation scheduled until 8/19/08. On 8/9/08, we said enough is enough and cancelled all AT&T service. On 8/19/08, when the AT&T telephone installer showed up at our door, we realized that AT&T did not cancel service, so we called again - and were assured that, yes, indeed, service had now been cancelled. On 8/20/08, AT&T ported our telephone number from our current carrier and then DISCONNECTED it.
Thanks to AT&T, we will have to obtain a new phone number and wait 5 days for service to be activated.
