Will take 2-6 months to port phone number - I have been trying to port my number since april 2014 and today, october 8th, 2014 still not ported...
I had a three line - land line - account and tried to switch to a 6 line VoIP. Previous service and new was both through AT&T... They created a stand alone account to forward my phone number through at $119.00 per month without authorization - I have been paying this while AT&T ports my number and I am forced to continue to pay it until they can port the number
Be weary of "Office at Hand" - this is a very expensive upgrade and is not free!!! This is a similar service that vonage and other companies offer for free that AT&T promotes but they did not disclose the cost prior to me agreeing to a two year contract for the VoIP.
Billing - Any billing disputes or credits issued will take a minimum of two months to resolve... I have had 3 issues so far and have been dealing with the last one for over three weeks and got an email today that they will be doing an investigation on the credit request from my small business rep at AT&T and it will conclude on November 7th - a month from now
AT&T Contracts - The contracts written by AT&T lawyers have no service level agreement. You are liable for the cost of the service for the contract period even if AT&T cannot perform the service
Business contracts are handle exclusively through your business account rep and they are the only ones that can help you - you cannot get help from any service department and cannot make changes to your account but through your rep... If you cannot reach your rep or have an under performing rep - you are stuck...
After shopping around after the poor performance, I have received bids from other companies that are over 50% to 75% cheaper than the T1 and VoIP service I am under contract with through AT&T.
In summary, know what to expect from AT&T... They are over valued and too large of a company to help small business... The amount of money you spend does not help your case as I also have all of my company cell phones and tablets through AT&T and I am billed over $2,500 a month for all of the services I use them for.
Hopefully this will help some other small business owner avoid the headache I will have for the next 18 months...
