I had autopay for years and then cancelled. Customer Service assured me no more payments, closed account.

Not true, they keep auto deducting. Customer service is very rude and I will advise anyone not to use ATT. They hang up, they lie, they give fake names, they have different stories. My bank says they have to issue a refund check ATT says they do not it's just too bad the bank should issue a refund.

It is ATT that needs to refund because they are charging for an account that has been closed and it is even in their notes but they just say too bad. I really hope this multi billion company falls for it's false practices and taking money for fake accounts or however they justify debiting

Close out the account at your bank and open a new one with new numbers, etc. but be aware that banks sometimes will honor the auto deduct even after this and take the money from your new account.

Best way is to close out the account entirely and go to a new bank. Depending on the amount AT&T over-deducted, you can sue them in small claims court for erroneous deductions. Depends on how much they lifted. Now you know why auto payments are so dangerous while loved by companies like At&T.
