The odds are that when you fail to pay the amount they say you owe, they will quickly just turn it over to collections and then you will get calls and letters from some collection agency demanding the money. I wouldn't suggest you "pay it just to make it go away" as you should never pay for something you don't owe. Any "hit" on your credit is minimal.

BEWARE.....Beware of the AT&T scam to switch your current mobile provide to AT&T and receive “up to $650 credit.” It is a complete scam. I traded in 4 phones to AT&T to switch from Verizon which cost over $1100 to end my current Verizon contract. AT&T made me wait almost 4 months for the "up to $650 credit per line" promise only to learn that AT&T is now refusing my credit as they "have no record of my phone trade in". An incredible scam and was instigated in the St. Charles, IL office with support by Aristotle Apostolopoulos, Retail Sales Manager.

I had been a loyal costumer for at&t, but not more! The quality of the costumer service is getting low every day. Not one but twice they after me promotions that they don't want to honor. Every time a call to at&t's costumer service, they transfer my call and I had been wasting too much time dealing with them. They offered me a good deal last week and when I called to make my payment there wasnt any note to honor what the costumer representative told me just few days ago! My most recient experience was yesterday. The costumer agent was well educated and made my conversation more agreeable, unfortunately she told me I will have U-verse service yesterday and Im still without service. My recommendation for you is that if you don't have the time to deal with this bad service, lies and a Company that lie to u, then go find a local company.
