Exactly as it reads. I called about combinding long distance bills on two lines. Unrelated, the rep. said that he was going to increase my internet speed for free because I was a loyal customer. He never mentioned equipment, junk fees, etc... In fact, he said repeatedly when asked, "its free."
The next thing you know, I unexpectedly received equipment in the mail. I called to find-out about the equipment only to learn that they were going to charge me $150 for the equipment and an extra $30 for an upcharge billing service.
ATT uses the difficult to receive help trick by keeping a customer on hold and then transfering them to a different department.
